Before my husband was diagnosed with diabetes, he was getting up in the middle of the night constantly thirsty. His mouth was always dry, I noticed him sweating a lot. I am an RN and a light bulb went off and I asked him to be checked for diabetes. Sure enough, he has it. The treatment depends on the type you have. There is type 1 and type 2. He has type 2 and only takes oral meds. Type one usually starts when you are a child and you end up taking insulin. There is no chromosome associated with it, it's a hormone, insulin, Your pancreas is not secreting enough insulin to metabolize your sugar intake and as a results, your sugar goes into a glucose concentration that can lead to a variety of dangerous things. Poor circulation, bad eye site, and if it continues to go untreated, a coma. If you have any of these symptoms then please consult your doctor. One more thing, you will find yourself urinating a lot, I mean a lot.
