If on chemotherapy can you still have your cats?My grandmother is going to go thru chemotherapy and my aunt who is taking care of her has 3 cats. My other aunt and cousin are telling her she has to get rid of her cats because of chemotherapy. Is this true. I cant not find it anywhere. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My mom had a cat throughout her chemo and she did just fine. The cat was very important in helping her through it.

Not true. My 82-year old Dad went through chemo and kept his cat.

The reason that you can't find any information on that is because it is a fabrication. My good friend has been doing Chemo for about 8 months and has 2 cats.....all is well.

Yes,but make sure your grandma stays away from their litter box!! my mom has lung cancer and is taking chemo and she is fine with the cats but we have to take out the litter box that's all

When I was on Chemo my cats and dogs were a huge comfort to me. Even my doctors turned a blind eye if my husband snuck one of my Chihuahua's into my room.
Having the cats around may help your grandma too.
