Can you develop a brain tumour as the primary source of cancer? And does it have to be cancer?
I'm only asking because recently I was admitted to hospital because of acute confusion, I didn't really know where I was, but the doctor discharged me 24hrs later and said that I was just severely overtired and dehydrated. But I've had a really bad headache recently, which kills when I cough, I can't concentrate on anything for longer that a couple of minutes (my concentration used to be fine), my spelling is appauling (having to use word to correct my mistakes and am getting ds mixed up with bs, but my spelling has always been good to), and I just feel 'wierd' all the time, like I'm in a dream and time is taking forever (like 1 day seems like a week) and I get confused with the date.
I really hope it's not serious but I don't want to go to the doctors, mainly for fear of hearing the worst but also because I don't want them to think I'm a hypochondriac or a time waster. And surely, if it was a brain tumour it would have had to spread from somewhere?
Please help!! x

Of course it can.

You really need to see a neurologist - maybe someone different from the last doc. Something is wrong, but you are jumping to conclusions about a tumor. The docs need to start with a MRI or other image and some neurological testing. Your symptoms point to a problem in a specific part of the brain, and an aneurysm or blood clot seem far more likely than a tumor.

Yes,brain cancer are known to develop as primary cancer.
But in your case it is not at all the cause.
From your text it seems to be acute anxiety.
My sincere advise is to consult Physician/Neurologist/Psychiatrist to have proper evaluation.
Good luck.

I did have a primary brain tumor and it was cancer, but they aren't all cancer. Benign tumors aren't harmless either and they can grow cancerous. I didn't have any of the symptoms you are describing and some are not caused by a brain tumor. So, you don't know how you ended up in the hospital? They didn't run a scan or blood test on you? You would think they would at least check your brain and run a drug test on you. And no, if it's a primary tumor, it didn't spread from anywhere. Are you SURE you aren't taking some kind of medication that's effecting you?
