What was the name of a drug given to pregnant women before the 70s now known to cause cancer in their infants?A drug, assumed safe, was given to pregnant women in prior to the 70s that is now known to cause cancer in the daughters of those women. I believe the drug was known as DDS or DSS or something similar to that.

DES or diethylstilbestrol. It was given to prevent complications in pregnancy. It increased the risk for daughters developing clear cell adenocarcinoma (a very rare form of cervical cancer that you almost never see unless there was maternal exposure to DES).
