Cervical relates to the neck, and radiculopathy refers to a nerve root disorder. The back bones have a channel that the nerves go through to get to the organs they communicate with. At each level, between the vertebrae, a branch of the nerves comes out on each side (called roots) and goes out to each area that it's supposed to communicate with. If there's a swelling of some kind, or a bone that's not in correct position, etc., and presses on a nerve, there's pain, or tingling, or heat, etc., and the muscles the nerves are supposed to put to work or relax can't do their job. The pain is just a warning that something's wrong and needs correction.
