What are the stages of Kaposi Sarcoma?

What are the stages of Kaposi Sarcoma?I'm trying to research for the stages of Kaposi Sarcoma (type of cancer), however I can't find and valid sites with the proper information. Help please!

Answer by Denisedds
This is because Kaposi's sarcomas are not staged. In the cases of the classic disease expected survival is more than 15 years. In AIDS patients or African children the median survival is less than 5 years.

You can find legitimate information for Kaposi sarcoma at the National Cancer Institute. Staging is a bit different with Kaposi which uses the TIS system. The TIS measures the size of the tumor, status of immune system, and spred of disease:

NCI: Kaposi sarcoma

You can find staging at cancer.net, which is the ASCO website:

I looked it up and here it what it said word for word
"There is no accepted staging system for Kaposi sarcoma. Patients are grouped depending on which type of Kaposi sarcoma they have. There are three types of Kaposi sarcoma.
Classic-Which usually occurs in older Jewish, Italian, or Mediterranean heritage. This type of Kaposi usually progresses slowly, sometimes over 10 to 15 years. As the disease get worse, the lower legs may swell and the blood may not even be able for flow properly.

Immunosuppressive treatment related-Kaposi's sarcoma may occur in people who are taking drugs to make their immune systems weaker.(immunosuppressive ) People who have had an organ transplant have to take drugs to weaken the immune system so the body won't reject or attack the new organ. Mostly a kidney or liver.

Epidemic- Kaposi's sarcoma in patients who have (AIDS ) is called epidemic Kaposi's..It usually spreads more quickly than other kinds of Kaposi's sarcoma and often is found in many parts of the body.

Recurrent is a disease that means that the KS has come back after it has been treated. It may come back in the area where it first started or in another part of the body".
I sure hope this helps because it was a long search. Good luck and do well. Be blessed and I wish you the best.
