plasma, is the straw colored fluid in which the blood cells are suspended, it contains nutrients and gases etc.
red blood cells (erythrocytes) - carry oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body. They do not turn blue, ever.
white blood cells (leukocytes) - help fight infections and aid in the immune process. Types of white blood cells include the following:
lymphocytes
monocytes
eosinophils
basophils
neutrophils (granulocytes)
platelets (thrombocytes) - help to control bleeding.by initiating the process of clotting.

Ok....
Red blood cells -carry oxygen through out your body, this is their main objective.
White cells- these are your immune system...some eat foreign and dead cells, others fight bacteria, etc. some release histamine during allergic reactions.
Platelets- are used for clotting...they form plugs in holes which stops bleeding
plasma- is for volume and contains clotting factors you need to stop bleeding as well.
