Hey. My older sister has cancer and i have some questions.....?

Hey. My older sister has cancer and i have some questions.....?My sister has cancer and i want to know a few things-

do you think she will live if here is a large mass/tumor in the pelvic area and also metastasis in her lungs and possibly in the bone marrow?

what is metastasis?

she has bladder cancer. is that a particularly bad type of cancer?

and what will it be like when she is on chemo? how will that affect her?

thank you so much!

and please be honest- i can handle the truth...

It sounds kind of bad but it might not be...
Metastasis is when cancer that starts somewhere, like the bladder, spreads somewhere else to a different organ. Like your sister's cancer started in the bladder but has spread possibly to her lungs and bone marrow.
You can look up answers to these questions at webmd.org
Also you should probably ask your parents or her doctor.
Chemo affects different people differently; but she might be sick and tired and stuff.

metastasis is when the cancer spreads to different areas of the body. that makes it more difficult to control and treat. it is still possible for your sister to successfully beat this cancer, particularly if it was detected early, but it will be more difficult now that it has spread. chemo makes a person feel very tired and nauseated. there are drugs now that she can take to help her keep her energy up though.

There is no way to tell who will live and who won't but what you have described is a pretty serious case, and it's going to be a tough one to beat. It doesn't depend on how upbeat she is or what her attitude is or anything else like that. It's not up to her whether she lives; it's up to the cancer. That is to say, if it responds well to the treatments they give her then she still has a chance of beating it. If it is stubborn and won't give up, then she might not make it. They can remove part of her lungs and she can still survive, but I don't know how someone could live without their bladder. I am not qualified to make any guesses here, but I'm going to say that all in all, this is going to be one of the harder cases to beat. But you never know. There are miracles happening all the time, and maybe she will turn out to be one of them.

Metastasis is when the cancer has spread from the primary site which is the bladder...to other organs!
Chemo affects people in different ways and people respond to treatment differently as well... Honestly though when the cancer has spread to other organs is much harder to treat than if it was isolated in just one part of the body!

My prayers are with your sister!

I'm sorry about this.
Your sister's case is a difficult one, but not hopeless. She will be quite sick for a while, more than likely. Chemo is not easy. There are many medications and methods she can use to deal with the side effects however, and if she is fairly healthy to start with she will likely do well with the chemo. Make sure she has a good team of doctors, nutritionists, social workers and whatever else she may need during this process.
The cancer itself is tricky. It has spread, and so is harder to treat. I do personally know a few people who are long-term survivors of this kind of cancer. It is possible.
The best thing you can do to help her is just be there for her. Be natural and honest and respond to her needs. She will do much better if she has the support of her friends and family.
I wish you all the best.
