disease with these characteristics?So I'm writing a book and one one my characters needs to have a disease with three characteristics:
1) either appears later in life (around 50ish) or can go undetected until then
2) can be genetic (but the child doesn't necessarily get it)
3) can be tested for before there are symptoms
i'm thinking colon cancer will work. if you agree, please give me a basic overview of what colon cancer is and how it is treated and tested for. if you don't agree, please give me a disease that will work and an overview of it.
how about prostate cancer?

heart disease, cancer, and diabetes would do. Colon is late 20s male, prostate is 50-60s male.

I'd go for diabetes, type2
