Hello SUNSHINE!
I would love to share a story with you, my uncle was diagnosed with extensive small cell lung carcinoma. he had a large mass in the center of his chest, cancer cells were present in his liver, and bone. this was sept 1, 2010. he has since gone through only 7 chemo treatments so far (one more to go next week) His prognosis was dire. This type of cancer will never leave his body. He knows one day this disease will take him, BUT it doesn't have to be now. about mid november he had a halfway through treatment PET scan and showed that he was responding very well to chemo. 2 weeks ago he had another scan and.......drum roll please.......NO MORE WERE DETECTED!!!!! he is in remission, not cured. but what a miracle for him!! he could go on like this for many years to come. if you think that not having cancer detected on a scan is successful, then this is his story, we'll take what we can get. he could die in a car accident any day, before this cancer ever gets him.
we have a saying,"either God is going to take you home, or give you something else to do" either way is a win-win to us. Good luck with your treatment, or if you are a caregiver--don't forget to take care of yourself too.
