Does anyone know the symptoms/treatment for a heel spur?

Does anyone know the symptoms/treatment for a heel spur?I have not had an x-ray, but when I tell my mom and my husband about my foot hurting the suggest that it could be a heel spur. What are the symptoms and treatment for something like that? It hurts when I walk on it.

Hello,

From your description it is hard to tell exactly what is causing the pain in your foot - But it sounds like "Plantar Fasciitis" and not necessarily a heel spur

If you can answer these questions I will be able to give you a better diagnosis and a possible treatment:

1) What is the most painful area in your foot?
2) Does it also hurt when you are not walking/standing?
3) Is it sensitive to the touch?
4) Do you have high or low arches in her feet?
5) What kind of shoes you usually wears?
6) Is there any redness or swelling visible?

Here are some suggestions for things you can do right now.

* You should Ice your foot at least 4 times a day - the easiest way is by rolling a frozen bottle on the floor with your foot

* Buy off the shelf padded insoles to wear in your shoes, there are also gel heel pads you can use.

* If you have to walk then make sure you wear super comfy shoes with good arch supports.

* Avoid any stressful activities such as Running, Aerobics etc.

Again, if you can answer my questions above I will be able to help her further.

You can write to me directly if you prefer, my email is in my profile.

Good luck and let's hope you feel better soon!
